Nine Otumoetai College rowers competed in the National Indoor ERG Champs on Saturday 23rd November at Avantidrome in Cambridge, in both the 500m & 1000m races.

All of the rowers achieved personal best results for their events which was a fantastic result and the team came away with 3 GOLD medals!

Rhianna Loughnan - Gold Medal in the 1000m and second place in 500m.

Jenna Brangwynne - Gold Medal in BOTH 1000m and 500m and awaiting to hear if it is a new NZ record.

Very proud of all the rowers and huge thanks to our coach Paul Clinton and all the supporters.

This upcoming weekend November 30 - December 1 is the “Karapiro Club Regatta” which all the rowers will be attending.

Scholarship to Visit Otago University

"Back in July Taila Rikirangi heard, in the Student Notice's, an opportunity to apply for a scholarship to visit Otago University in January 2020 to explore any area of study she desired.

With a bit of encouragement from her Poutama form teachers, she applied. On Thursday 22nd of November she received a letter accepting her application.

Taila will now be flown to Otago University in January 2020 for a week long visit to explore opportunities to study law. She is currently a Year 11 student, and is showing great ambition to strive for excellence in her chosen field.

E te tā! Tū Kaha, Tū Maia, Tū Rangatira .... kia rite pakia!!” – Bobby Ketu.
