Outward Bound Experience

Two Ōtūmoetai College students, Finn Gray and Eva Karena, were selected for a full scholarship to Outward Bound earlier in Term 2.

Last week students from around the region who also won scholarships met at The Collective. They, along with their whanau, met their sponsors.

Two students had been identified to speak on the students behalf, Eva was one of them. She spoke of her experiences and learnings.

Year 10 Market Day

The Year 10 Business Management group Mini Donuts and Rings came away with the overall Supreme Award for their effort in our Year 10 Market Day on the 11th June.

This group managed to think outside the box and not only sold a delicious donut pack topped with chocolate sauce but they also hand crafted beaded rings to sell alongside the donuts. The girls worked hard on producing a detailed business plan to go alongside them practically carrying out the Market Day.

Pride is Feeling You Belong

We are feeling proud. Exploring how it might feel when you have a sense of belonging led to Year 9 Food Technology students term two product design brief.

Many students chose to design a product for residents of Matua Radius Care, others designed for our Equality Club or identified people they just wanted to let know they cared.

A quick exploration of the needs of elderly folk led to some interesting design constraints. Product ideas were tested and trialled to ensure students met their brief.

The smiles and joy from recipients said it all.

Year 9 Food Technology students - you all made a difference and we thank you.
